In a sweltering 100F, lassi helps with digestion and hydration.
Rose water is an ideal ingredient to use during the heat wave. It has the ability to cure heat stroke due to its soothing properties. It hydrates the body and helps relieve headache and convulsions.
Also a good antidepressant.
Cardamom has similar soothing properties.
It also adds a tinge of sweetness to the drink.
Basil seeds or chia provide much needed energy.
3/4 cup organic yogurt
2 tsp pure rose water
Cardamoms 3-4
Basil seeds or chia 1 tsp
2 cups cold water
Crush the cardamom seeds with a mortar and pestle.
Soak the chia or basil seeds for 10 to 15 mins until they form a gelatinous structure.
In a blender, combine 1/3 cup water with the crushed cardamom, the seeds and rose water. Pulse for few seconds.
Add the yogurt and blend for few seconds. Then add the remaining water and blend again. Serve chilled.
Sugar can be added if required. I skipped it since sugar will make the Lassi heavy on the stomach.
