Nothing can beat lemonade, it's so refreshing and nourishing to the body in the heat. Coconut water and lemonade were our only childhood drinks, they were very natural, no sugar,no fat. Just plain
nutrition. But over the years, with so many other options in the market ( Tang, Country Time, Sprite, Coke, Sports drinks and then Smoothie) made us dump the humble lemonade.
On a hot day and after a work out or run, lemonade replenishes the body with all the essential nutrients lost during the work out process. It also lowers the body temperature, making it a perfect drink to beat the heat. I have added a hint of honey (aids weight loss), ginger(immunity) and pepper and mint(digestion).
Why do you need Gatorade when lemonade is so much more beneficial to health??
Juice of 4 lemons
1 tbsp honey
4 tbsp raw sugar( add more as per your taste)
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp freshly ground pepper
1 inch ginger grated
Spearmint 10-12 leaves washed
3.5 cups cold water
If the lemons are refrigerated, best to soak them in hot water for 20 mins. This process makes juicing easier and squeezes out more juice.
In a blender, combine the juice and sugar and let it stand 5 mins for sugar to dissolve.
Then blend them together with salt, ginger, pepper, mint and honey. Once this mixture is done, add the water and blend.
Lemonade is ready to be served. It can be served chilled or at room temperature with or without ice.
Beat the heat!!
