Blood Orange and Pear Cocktail

I take a break from making smoothie on Saturdays but make Cocktails or mocktails instead. Why not? It's the only evening I get to unwind and watch my favorite television series.

Something I look forward to in Spring is the blood orange bounty. Love them as I can play around with them in salads, smoothies, juices and now cocktails.
These oranges have a hint of bitterness that marries well with rum.


3 medium sized blood oranges peeled
1 medium pear deseeded
2 inch ginger chopped

1 part rum
3 parts club soda
1 tablespoon organic maple syrup
Dash of lemon juice

Combine the fruits and ginger and juice them with 1.25 cups cold water.
Take 5oz juice, 1 tbsp maple syrup, tsp of lemon juice with rum and soda. Mix them well in the shaker with some ice cubes.  Serve chilled.

It's sinfully healthy!!

For a non-alcoholic version, replace rum with orange or grape soda.
