I love smoothies, my day is incomplete without a serving of it.Thanks to smoothies, I successfully fought the flu season without the shot or I would rather say these smoothies were my homemade flu shots.
I don't want to eliminate smoothies since the winter is over and so is the active flu season. We need vitamins everyday I'm natural form.
I take advantage of our Californian produce. Try different combinations almost everyday. Some work and some don't tastewise. I keep a log of all of them.
My family loved the Berry Blast with Kale, pineapple and chia. All the berries I used were organic.
1/4 cup strawberries
1/4 cup blueberries or blackberries
1/4 cup raspberries
1/4 cup organic pineapple chops
1.5 tsp organic chia seeds soaked in water for 10 mins.
4-5 large organic kale leaves washed
1 tbsp flaxmeal optional
1/4-1/2 cup coconut milk for desired consistency
Wash all the berries, kale and pineapple thoroughly.
In the blender add the pineapple chopped with chia and 1/4 cup coconut milk. When smooth, add kale and blend.
Then blend with all the berries and flaxmeal with rest of the coconut milk until you get your desired consistency. I added 1/3 cup coconut milk in mine since I preferred a semi thick smoothie, not too fruity or too diluted.
If your berries are sour, you could add dates or maple syrup to your smoothies.
I make this smoothie with a tsp organic unsweetened cocoa too.
Ciao till next vegan smoothie recipe....
